About the project
SWT Academy was an intensive, two-month series of lectures and educational workshops delivered in Rybnik from 1 November to 31 December 2022. We designed the project for primary and secondary school students to practically strengthen skills needed in everyday life, education, and further civic engagement.
The programme was built on four pillars: entrepreneurship, soft and civic competences, creativity, and digital competences (with a particular focus on online safety). We used workshop-based methods, dialogue, and engaging tasks so that participants not only listened, but genuinely practised new skills.
Process
We began the preparation stage by selecting practitioner workshop leaders and refining the project’s full support base: promotional and teaching materials, contact with schools, the schedule, documentation, and evaluation tools. In parallel, the speakers prepared the programme and multimedia materials for specific target groups.
Next, we ran group workshops in secondary schools in Rybnik, which served as an entry point to the programme’s topics. This stage helped organise goals, show participants possible development paths, and invite them to continue working in smaller groups.
The next step was workshop sessions in an intimate format (up to 10 people), where participants worked more individually with trainers. We ended each meeting with a qualitative survey and a progress assessment, allowing us to continuously tailor the delivery to the group’s needs.

Impact
What changed thanks to the project
The project was delivered as planned, and the overall and operational objectives were achieved. We delivered 8 dates of school workshops and 20 workshop meetings in smaller groups, covering all 4 thematic areas of SWT Academy.
The final surveys show a clear increase in participants’ self-assessment of knowledge and competences. In a cross-sectional analysis after the workshops, 72% of respondents rated their theoretical knowledge at level 4 or 5 (on a five-point scale), and only 25% reported no change. At the same time, 90% of students rated the way the classes were conducted as good or very good.
The qualitative results also showed that the workshop format and work in smaller groups meet young people’s needs well. In the school survey, nearly 47% of students declared they would like to take part in further workshops, and in the thematic modules participants regularly expressed readiness to continue participating.
