About the project
The Concert for the 100th Anniversary of the Silesian Uprisings was our concert-and-educational event delivered from April to September 2021 as part of the Niepodległa Programme. We combined music, historical storytelling, and community animation activities to present the region’s history and the community built around it in an accessible way.
The programme featured performances by local and nationwide artists, theatrical elements, historical presentations, and activities for children and families. We wanted every participant to be able to engage with the topic in their own way—through a concert, a conversation, a workshop, or an encounter with local history.
Process
We began preparations on 1 April 2021. First, we finalised partnerships, the artistic line-up, and the schedule of promotional activities with the city, media patrons, and community partners. Due to the epidemic situation, after arrangements with the Niepodległa Programme Office and signing an annex, we moved the concert to the summer stage of the Teatr Ziemi Rybnickiej.
In the following weeks, we refined the event logistics: the information point, invitations, technical and photo/video support, backstage facilities for artists, and volunteer work. Just before the concert, the team confirmed that all elements were ready, including safety measures and on-site coordination.
After the event, we carried out evaluation and follow-up promotion. We summarised the indicators, collected feedback from residents and partners, and closed the substantive and financial settlement. We use the conclusions from this project in subsequent large events.

Impact
What changed thanks to the project
The key result was attendance: around 500 people actively took part, against a target of 300—167% of the planned indicator. We also achieved the remaining indicators as planned: 1 commemorative event, 6 people involved in delivering the task, and 10 volunteers supporting the organisation.
The project genuinely strengthened local identity and the intergenerational dimension of patriotism. We managed to bring different age groups together around a shared history, and thanks to publications by partners and media patrons we also increased the reach of our communications.
An additional outcome was stronger cooperation with institutions and the artistic community, which translated into a more robust organisational base for further historical and cultural initiatives.
